After building up a string of movie roles and musicals in the 60’s – including working with Elvis in “Viva Las Vegas”, a young Ann-Margret stunned Hollywood with her honest, raw and naked portrayal in one of the 70’s greatest films, “Carnal Knowledge.”
Carnal Knowledge!
This was one of the most controversial and acclaimed movies of its time, a “thought-provoking” comedy-drama from the late and legendary director Mike Nichols. “Carnal Knowledge” is a funny, poignant look at relationships as seen through the eyes of two friends over a 20-year period.
Here is the trailer:
Written by playwright Jules Feiffer, “Carnal Knowledge” stars Jack Nicholson, Ann-Margaret, Candice Bergen and pop music icon Arthur Garfunkel. Nicholson and Garfunkel are college roommates who share an endless fascination and obsession with women.
One of their “obsessions” is with Ann-Margret, who is terrific in this film – this film helped her graduate from the innocent sex kitten phase of her career, baring her soul and much much more…
And of course, Margret is also know for one of the wildest movie scenes of all time – involving baked beans!
Yes, you’ve got to see her in the cult classic “Tommy!”

Not all Hollywood sex symbols were from the US – here is the story of Europe’s “Queen of Artsploitation!”
Christina Marinette Lindberg was born in Gothenburg, Sweden – and was internationally known for her work as an actress and glamour model in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Lindberg starred in 23 feature films. Her first movie was an “Maid in Sweden”, an art film that took advantage of Christina’s sex appeal!
Maid in Sweden – leave the best to the Swedes! Here is the story of Inga, a 16-year-old Swedish girl who leaves her rural home to spend a weekend in the Swedish capital. An innocent with no experience, but with prodigious physical attributes, she has a series of romantic adventures as she throws off the frustrations of her small-town environment.
Look at that tagline:
“Inga At Sixteen, Her Coming Of Age.”
You don’t have to be Caligula to know what they are saying to you. It was Lindberg’s third film, “Exposed”, that turned her into an international celebrity.
These “art” films were full of nudity and sex, and as censorship loosened in the 70’s, her films made it to America and Lindberg became known as the “Queen of Artsploitation!”
So many great films, like “Thriller: A Cruel Picture” and more!
