“Demon” Cult Horror Queen Monica Keena! “Shocktober” Day #8 Pits Jason Vs. Freddy!

Monica Keena Has Some “Shocktober” Treats For You!

As we celebrate “Shocktober” Day #8, I want to highlight an Actress who helped two horror legends get together, AND she starred in the remake of one of the best 80’s horror hits!

Keena has been in dozens of films after getting her start on the TV show “Dawson’s Creek.” Since we are focused on #31daysofhorror, let’s look at two of her best horror films!

Let’s get started with her two new best friends:

“Freddy Vs. Jason”!

Yes, two of horror’s most iconic characters are together in one film!

Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees return to terrorize the teenage population – for as long as they can get along!

Two of horror’s most iconic characters came together in this 2003 horror film…here is the trailer:

Monica had an interesting quote about being in the film:

“I’ve only seen two horror movies in my life, and one of them was A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), when I was about eight years old. And it scared me so much that I couldn’t sleep for two or three months. So I always swore I would never do a horror movie. It was very cathartic to be working with Freddy and to realize he’s not a real person. Robert Englund is a really sweet guy under all the make-up.”

Interestingly, this was the final film in which Robert Englund played Freddy Krueger.

I also found this interesting bit of trivia about Monica, thanks to IMDB:

“Following its release, Monica Keena and Katharine Isabelle had rather choice words about the film, with Keena in particular saying that she thought the screenplay was terrible, and that she only really signed on for the money, and to raise her profile.”

She then went on to star in a film with iconic roots as well:

“Night Of The Demons”

Monica stars in this horror remake of the iconic 1988 hit, the story of a group of kids who go to a Halloween party, only to have to face down a group of demons!

Check out the trailer:

Here is what Monica had to say about the film:

“In many horror movies from the past, the women have always just been sex objects, there only to look pretty and get murdered. But my character is the leader and the strongest person in the group. It’s exciting; it’s like an action movie. It’s a very strong part for a young woman. I felt like Lara Croft.”

Keena continues to act in film and TV, and is one of Hollywood’s new – and empowered – sex kittens:

Of course, “Night Of The Demons” was a remake of the 1988 classic, starring this iconic “Scream Queen”:

Linnea Quigley is not only one of our greatest “Scream Queens”, but she was in the “Demons” remake as well, but nothing beats the original!

  1. I haven’t seen either of those films, John. But Monica looks cute, and I can see why she is popular. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. John, did you send me two postcards from Hollywood? I guess they are from you, but you didn’t put a name on them. 🙂
    Thanks very much!
    Pete.
