Brinke Stevens Is A “Nightmare” – Sister That Is!
Shocktober Day #21 Is Hanging out with the great Cult Horror Queen Brinke Stevens!
Brinke was born in San Diego, home of the legendary pop culture convention Comic-Con.
Stevens won first place in the first Masquerade Ball in 1974, and was part of the event for years.
Stevens has been in more than 100 films, from science fiction to fantasy, but we are going to showcase some of her great horror films…here are a few of her gems:
“The Slumber Party Massacre” was in 1982, and of course 1987’s “Slave Girls From Beyond Infinity” is a terrific film as well:
In 1988, Brinke starred in a film that has a very unusual story: it was made ON A DARE!
Have Some Fun With Quigley, Stevens & Bauer!
It would be the most popular law firm EVER: Brinke teamed up with fellow 80’s sex kittens Linnea Quigley and Michelle Bauer for a cult horror movie that was done on a dare!
Meet The “Nightmare Sisters!”
Here is a movie that was made in the most unique way ever – a creative team was dared to make use of some extra leftover film!
Here is how the movie is described by the great website Mondo Digital:
“Shot over a long weekend, this self-proclaimed “4 Day Wonder” began as a dare to director David DeCoteau to throw together a single-location shoot using 35mm short ends after the completion of his successful Full Moon feature, ‘Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-a-Rama’.”
The website adds:
“Three of his leading ladies (who would remain with him for years in a variety of other scream queen projects) — Linnea Quigley, Michelle Bauer, and Brinke Stevens — gladly jumped at the chance to star in a T&A comic horror fantasy while getting to stretch a bit by playing both sorority nerds and demonic temptresses.”
And cult movie fans are happy they wanted to have some fun!
So here are three of the 80’s most popular cult movie queens – Quigley, Bauer and Stevens as nerds – clearly having fun playing goofy…and then of course, here they are as demonic temptresses:
Mondo Digital also goes into the extensive extra content included in the blu-ray release, including some great audio commentary by the cast and crew….it’s a great disc to have – see the whole story here:
This is the kind of “anything goes” attitude from cinema that is missing in film today…and Stevens always seemed to be having a blast!
Yes, Linnea Quigley co-starred in “Nightmare Sisters”, and she was also one of the 80’s great Scream Queens, and was Shocktober’s very first Scream Queen – you can see more of Linnea here:
