Heather Langenkamp Has A Shocktober “Friend”!
This is a photo of TWO Horror Icons: Freddy Kruger of course, and Heather Langenkamp, who achieved Icon status as Nancy Thompson in 1984’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, one of modern horror’s greatest films!
Shocktober Day #27 looks at this horror classic, plus some of Langenkamp’s greatest hits!
Heather’s first major role was in “A Nightmare On Elm Street”, created by Wes Craven. This visionary Director gave us Freddy Krueger, one of modern horror’s greatest characters!
Heather Langenkamp starred with a very young Johnny Depp and terrific character Actor John Saxon in the story of the monstrous spirit of a slain child murderer, who seeks revenge by invading the dreams of teenagers whose parents were responsible for his untimely death.
Let’s check out the very effective trailer:
In 1984, this film franchise raised the stakes on horror – and led to a string of sequels of variable quality – and to “Scream” itself a decade later!
After the success of “Nightmare”, Langenkamp starred in “Nickel Mountain” that same year:
Nancy returned three years later for “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors”, and had a “New Nightmare” in 1994:
Langenkamp played a fictionalized version of herself, an Actress who struggles to deal with her time on a movie set and the nightmares it gives her!
Langenkamp has had a non-stop career since then – starring in movies as well as TV shows.
Heather released a new film a few years ago as well:
Heather stars in the horror film “Portal”, which is available on demand right now!
Here’s the story: the ambitious founder of an amateur ghost hunting team is tired of chasing down the same old “haunts” as every other wanna-be team out there, so comes up with a unique new approach, with disastrous results!
As well as acting and producing, Heather co-owns AFX Studio – a company that creates special effects for films like 2004’s “Dawn of the Dead” and “The Cabin in the Woods” from 2011.
Bravo to Heather Langenkamp on her new film and terrific career…she’s one of horror’s modern “cult Queens” – like Monica Keena:
Keena starred in a couple of great horror films, including one with Freddy Kruger!

If you want to go deeper into the world of cult cinema, you want to meet Linda Hayden:
She starred with Vincent Price, AND she was in one of the most controversial films of the 70’s as well:

I remember thinking Heather was a sexy and ‘sultry-looking’ actress in NOES, one with a good future in films and cinema. Pleased to hear that she is still going strong. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Love the website, I ended up here googling for a Freddy & Nancy animated gif. I hate to be a wet blanket, but unfortunately that one GIF of her tearing her shirt off ( just after “… it shows how mesmerizing Heather is onscreen…”) isn’t actually Heather. That’s an actress named Marta Żmuda Trzebiatowska and is from the Polish movie “Ciacho” (aka “Superheros”, and actually on Amazon Prime). Maybe we can just call here “the Polish Heather Langenkamp” LOL. Anyway, looking forward to exploring what seems like an amazing site here!
