Maitland Ward’s Journey From ‘Boy Meets World’ to Porn’s A-List
I read The Daily Beast, a terrific news site with a ton of great, original reporting, like this story by Marlow Stern about the career of Maitland Ward!
It’s the fascinating story of a young Actress who achieved early success in Hollywood, then struggled before taking on a new career as an adult film star!
Ward got her start at 14 years old on the TV soap “The Bold and the Beautiful”, and at 16 was cast on the hit TV series “Boy Meets World.”
From “ABC” To “XXX”!
“Boy Meets World” was a huge success at the time, and should have catapulted the Actress into stardom.
So how does the star of an ABC TV series end up doing XXX work?
The Daily Beast’s Marlow Stern has the compelling story of what led Ward from that iconic sitcom to the adult film industry, and a critically-acclaimed work of adult filmmaking.
The journey into the XXX-world of filmmaking came after her hit sitcom went off the air, with roles in a variety of TV shows and movies failing to achieve the same level of success. After years of struggling to succeed in the entertainment business, Maitland shifted into the world of “subscription” online services that offer fans provocative pictures and content – and there are thousands who are willing to pay for the privilege.
Then, the opportunity came to Ward to act in adult movies. She was surprised how easy the transition was.
As Maitland told the Daily Beast Writer:
“I thought I’d be more nervous, but I wasn’t,” she offers. “It’s been way easier and I’ve enjoyed it so much more than I’d expected. And I’m good at it. It feels natural to me. If you talked to my younger, more virginal soap-opera self, I never would have seen this coming out of me.”
And yet, she is now one of the most popular – and acclaimed – Actresses in adult film!
As Stern reported in his article, Maitland’s most recent project was a huge critical and commercial success!
“Ward, who is now 42, recently collected two nominations at the AVN Awards, otherwise known as the Oscars of Porn, for Best Three-Way Sex Scene and Best Supporting Actress.”
At January’s awards ceremony, she won Best Supporting Actress, Best Three-Way Sex Scene and the Fan Award for Favorite Camming Cosplayer!
Those awards were for “Drive”, an erotic thriller directed by Adult Film Actress Kayden Kross. It was released late last year and was critically acclaimed.
The film runs three hours and 29 minutes – as Stern reports, this magnum opus of sex is just ONE MINUTE SHORTER than Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman!”
Stern’s terrific article charts Ward’s path from mainstream acting to adult fare, with candid reflections from Ward herself!
The article is a fascinating look at one person’s professional journey into the adult film world and the money she is making doing it.
Note: these are XXX-rated movies, so I didn’t show any of that here. Stern did another terrific bit of reporting – you can see the entire article here at The Daily Beast:

Maitland Ward isn’t the first Actress to transition to more adult fare:
Cult Movie Queen Sharon Kelly starred in a number of 70’s exploitation films, then transitioned into more adult fare in the 80’s – you can see her provocative work here:
Another of cult cinema’s greatest sex kittens also went between soft and hardcore films as well:
The camera LOVED Rene Bond, who acted in “R” and “X” rated films, and “XXX” as well…see her story here:

Pete, she was one of the stars of a very popular 90’s TV show here – a huge hit – and after years of struggling to find work, she turned here…
