Barbara Bach! My “2020 Sex Kitten Countdown” Has The “Bond Girl” Who Also “Bared All”!

Celebrating A Ravishing “Bond Girl” And “Beatle Wife”!

While she is much more than just that, Barbara Bach is well known for her work in one of the best “007” films, and for marrying Ringo!

Barbara Bach appeared a a number of terrific film in the 70’s, like “Force 10 From Navarone” with Harrison Ford, but her work in cult cinema, and her lavish nude pictorials, are what we will focus on here!

My “2020 Sex Kitten Countdown” has the story of her terrific career, as a Model and Actress – and as a “Bond Girl” and “Beatle Wife” as well!

Barbara Bach was born Barbara Ann Goldbach on August 27, 1947 in Queens, New York. She became a Model very early in her life – Barbara was sent to Rome as a Model for Seventeen magazine. While there, she fell in love with an Italian businessman, Augusto Gregorini, who was 11 years older than the teen. When she turned 18, she married Augusto and moved with him to Rome where she began her film career.

Bach co-starred with two other “Bond Girls”, Claudine Auger and Barbara Bouchet in the Italian Giallo film “Black Belly of the Tarantula” in 1971.

While appearing in a number of Italian films, Bach also got attention for a very revealing photo shoot with Playboy.

She made several other appearances in Playboy related to her movie work, especially when she became a “Bond Girl.”

In 1977, she was chosen to play Russian Secret Agent Anya Amasova in one of Roger Moore’s most popular outings as 007, the James Bond film “The Spy Who Loved Me.”

Here is the trailer:

This is one of the most successful, and best liked, Bond films of all.

Here’s an interesting fact I found online. Roger Moore barely mentions Bach in his memoir, even though he called “The Spy Who Loved Me” one of his best Bond films. Director John Glen later said that he believed that Moore and Bach “weren’t the best of buddies” and that she might have found his humor to be juvenile.

However, when Moore died in 2017, Barbara graciously said this:

“It was a pleasure working with Roger, he was a kind and good man. A true gentleman. Peace, love and condolences to his wife and family.”.

Bach continued to appear in magazines in a variety of provocative poses, and her popularity was never higher than after she starred in a Bond film.

In 1980, she starred in this thriller:

“The Unseen!”

This gritty thriller put Bach back in the horror genre.

A trio of female reporters find themselves staying overnight in a house occupied by a hostile being lurking in the basement.

She continued to appear in magazines as well.

Barbara was the cover of Playboy magazine in January 1981. Inside was also a photo spread of her as well.

It was her next role, however, that would change her life forever.

Caveman!

Bach next starred with Dennis Quaid, Ringo Starr and Shelley Long in this goofy comedy. The plot was simple:

A caveman seeks revenge on a much larger competitor for the hand of a beautiful cavewoman. Check out the trailer:

One of the most interesting aspects of this films that no English is spoken!

Instead, the entire cast uses “Cavespeak” , which translates as follows: “alunda” – love; “bobo” – friend; “haraka” – fire; “macha” – monster; “nya” – no/not; “ool” – food; “pooka” – broken; “ugh” – like; “kooda” – come/follow; “zug zug” – have sex; “fecchh” – “shit”/general profanity.

Barbara met Ringo Starr on the set of “Caveman” and they fell in love during filming.

But this is funny: before she met Sir Ringo and the two fell in love, Barbara is on record as saying that she was originally disappointed that the lead part had gone to Ringo instead of “a top comedian like Dudley Moore”.

After a few more roles, she was done. Bach left the business and has since been with Ringo.

Barbara Bach had a good run in the 70’s, but her marriage to Ringo spelled the end to her career. Oh, and if you were wondering, she was not related to this Actress:

Actress Catherine Bach is best known for her role in the TV show “The Dukes Of Hazzard”, but she had one “Crazed” role as well!

Find what led Catherine to make this provocative film by clicking on my story here:

While Barbara Bach was certainly one of the most beautiful “Bond Girls” of all time – still, Claudine Auger may be my favorite:

She played “Domino” in the great 007 film “Thunderbolt”, and like Bach, also did Italian Giallo slashers as well…see her career highlights by clicking on my link here:

  1. It was a long time before I realised she was an American. I had always thought she was Italian or German. Her and Ringo seemed a very unlikely couple at the time. Good to see it worked out.
    Best wishes, Pete.
