Meet Suzanna Love!
One reason I enjoy doing my “2020 Sex Kitten Countdown” is to discover Cult Movie Queens who had a brief run of films and then never acted again…
Suzanna Love acted in a handful of offbeat independent movies for her onetime writer/director husband Ulli Lommel from the late 70s to the early 90s.
Not that she needed to work: Suzanna was a Dupont heiress who grew up in Manhattan and attended Vassar College!
She was in pageants in London as a kid, went to acting school and appeared in several mainstream films as the 70’s became the 80’s – like “Hair”, “Cocaine Cowboys” and “Blank Generation”…but then she got going in the cult film genre and showed us her best stuff!
The Boogeyman!
This 1980 horror film told the story of two siblings who are targeted by the ghost of their mother’s deceased boyfriend, who was freed from an imprisoned mirror!
In 1983, she gave her most provocative performance in “Olivia” – the film was also released a “Double Jeopardy” as well:
Oh, and did I mention that is was ALSO released as “A Taste Of Sin” – yes, a film with 3 separate titles!
A young girl witnesses her prostitute mother getting killed by a client, only to grow up and marry an abusive man, while herself suffering from homicidal schizophrenia!
The film includes some provocative moments with Love, including a very naked shower scene…
That same year she was in “BrainWaves” and “Boogeyman II” as well! In the sequel, Loves stars again as Lacey, who travels to Hollywood, to the home of a film director, where she brings along the last surviving haunted mirror shard from the end of the first movie as proof to her horrifying experiences!
Director Lommel and Suzanna found the original London Bridge in Arizona while preparing for “Boogeyman II”. Lommel started writing a story that would involve London Bridge in London and Arizona’s London Bridge as well!
“The Devonsville Terror” was also released in 1983, a shocker about a Doctor who investigates a 300-year-old witch’s curse in the New England town of Devonsville.
Love only appeared in three more films before retiring from the business…but she left some great performances in some fun cult gems!
As I said, my “2020 Sex Kitten Countdown” is designed to look at some of that era’s great Cult Movie Queens, like Laura Gemser:
She was “Black Emanuelle” and more! See her most provocative roles by clicking on my story here:
I have also found some really great Actresses from Italy, like Debora Caprioglio:
Debora’s greatest film was called “Paprika” – click here for a taste!

Stole my heart when I first saw her in The Devonsville Terror.

Quite the career, then just decided to stop!

LOVE her in The Boogeyman, Devonsville Terror and Brainwaves, three surprisingly fun B-movies. Didn’t she finance Lommel’s movies? Anyhow, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who remembers her!

I didn’t see the finance issue, but considering she is rich, it would make sense!
