Celebrating The Empowered Career Of Jeanne Silver!
First of all – congratulations to Jeanne Silver for her induction into the 2021 AVN Hall Of Fame!
My “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” is designed to celebrate those Cult Movie Queens who have entertained us over the year – and in this case, I’m excited to celebrate a great empowered Adult Film Star and support a good cause as well.
Jeanne Silver was born on June 15, 1960 in Tempe, Arizona, USA. She was an accomplished Adult Film Actress – known for performing with a missing lower leg.
Jeanne Silver acted in dozens of films, and will forever be known for her empowered approach to filmmaking – as you can see from these ads promoting her work:
Silver had a vibrant career, which she herself was candid and open about – here is a quote form her that I found on IMDB.com:
“People are still uptight about the disability thing. Having an amputation is a hard pill to swallow, particularly later in life. I grew up with it so I don’t see myself as being different. I get up, I throw my leg on, and I go — I even puked in my leg once. It was next to the bed. The next morning I forgot, put my leg [on], and was like, “Ew!” I’ve even taken my leg off and thrown it at people — I joke about it a lot. I’d like to let people with disabilities know that they can have fun with their lives: Don’t be afraid to experiment. Stop putting it in the closet.”
Here’s a look at a few of her best known films, plus her longtime friendship with Adult Film Director Carter Stevens, AND a call to action…
Jeanne got her start in the 1977 film “The Violation Of Claudia”, which starred the legendary Adult Star Sharon Mitchell…
“Debbie Does Dallas Pt. 2”
Silver also appeared the sequel to the legendary adult film “Debbie Does Dallas” – as you know, Bambi Woods starred in this breakout adult film before disappearing forever – you can see more of Bambi’s story by clicking here:
In 1977, Jeanne starred in her most provocative film – which was all about here!
Director Alex DeRenzy told the story of Jeanne Silver, who embarks on an unusual erotic odyssey in which she uses her disability to pleasure both men and women alike. The film also shows candid scenes with Silver, with glimpses into her life as someone living with a particular physical affliction.
IMDB had another quote form the Actress, where she reflects on her life in the adult film business:
“I was treated well. I made my own decisions; it was my body and my survival technique. I wasn’t forced into doing anything. I was approached with the idea, and all I would have to say was, “No, I’m not doing that.” I was young but I was independent and supporting myself.”
“I made [adult] films until I was 26 or 27. I stopped because I was beginning to age — it was going from film to video, and rates were changing. It just wasn’t the same, and I was ready for something different, so I quit and started bartending. I dealt drugs for awhile. When I was 29, I got pregnant and that sealed it. This wasn’t going to be my life. At seven months pregnant, I left New York, moved around a bit, and eventually settled down back in Arizona, where I’m from and dedicated the next 21 years to just being a soccer mom.”
Now, Jeanne has reached out for our help.
Director Carter Stevens passed away at his home on December 30th, at the age of 76.
As Jeanne’s GoFundMe page states:
“Carter was an acclaimed sexploitation filmmaker who directed, produced, and photographed dozens of films throughout his nearly three decade career. Best remembered for his genre bending classics like the sci-fi sex comedy ROLLERBABIES, the gritty, hardcore neo-noir PUNK ROCK, and his numerous titles for New York’s notorious Avon Productions, Carter’s work gained a sizable cult following in recent years as he became recognized as one of the major auteurs from the ‘Golden Age of Porn’ along with inductions into the AVN Hall of Fame and Legends of Erotica.”
Sadly, in later years his health worsened:
“After suffering a severe stroke roughly 20 years ago, Carter was unable to continue working and was forced to go on social security, which left him with no savings. This fundraiser will help his his children, Braden Frost and Heather Treible, pay for funeral expenses and other urgent costs related to his unexpected passing.”
Please do what I did: click on this go fund me page and support Jeanne and the effort to give Stevens a proper farewell. Here is the link:
Thanks Jeanne for your effort here, and for your empowered career.
The adult film world can be tough for the performers who starred in some of our favorite films:
Laura Cannon made some acclaimed films, but had a sad end – you can see her story by clicking here:
Like Jeanne however, there have been many who had a great life after starring in adult films:
Christy Canyon had an empowered career beyond her time in adult film, and you can see it all by clicking on my story here:
