Celebrating The Cult Film Career Of Patricia Wymer!
Patricia Wymer was a vibrant Cult Actress who only appeared in three low-budget exploitation films, but what a collection they are!
My “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” takes a look at the short but revealing career of Wymer, who was born on February 13, 1947 in my home town of Seattle, Washington.
Patricia started out as a dancer on the short-lived groovy 60’s rock’n’roll music variety TV show “Malibu U.” Her natural beauty led her to posing in men’s magazines at the time.
Wymer both graced the cover and did a nude pictorial for the August, 1968 issue of the adults only magazine “Best for Men.”
In 1969 she made her acting debut in two classic exploitation movies: she portrayed a coven witch in the cult gem “The Witchmaker” :
A psychic researcher and his assistants investigate a series of murders of beautiful young women.
It was the next film from he same year that gave Wymer a very provocative starring role!
Patricia stars as the sexy, free-spirited hippie pixie Candy Wilson in this wildly entertaining drive-in film “The Babysitter!”
Patricia Showcases Her Talent!
The Actress really put it all out there in the film!
An Assistant District Attorney is about to prosecute members of a motorcycle gang for murder when he gets blackmailed because of an affair with his teenage babysitter!
As you can see, Wymer was stunning on camera, and for 1969, this was provocative movie making to be sure – classic grindhoue and drive-in theater stuff of legend!
Patricia followed up this drive-in hit with another of the great early 70’s exploitation films, this one focused on sexy high school graduates!
“The Young Graduates!”
Patricia starred as spunky and precocious high school senior Mindy Evans, who spurns her boyfriend Bill to have a fling with her married teacher!
When Patricia’s film The Young Graduates opened at two Seattle drive-in theaters in June of 1971, the Seattle newspaper ad stated “See Seattle’s own PATRICIA WYMER in her latest film.” It’s great that she received a little bit of local publicity, but most Seattleites failed to take notice.
And then, after “The Young Graduates”, Patricia Wymer abruptly stopped acting and dropped completely out of sight!
Her films have lived on, but her story took a shocking turn…
Patricia’s Tragic Death…
As with some of the other Cult Movie Queens I’ve profiled, Wymer seems to have had a tough life.
Patricia died tragically in a house fire in Lakeport, CA in 1993, at the age of 46. She had become a hospice worker and lived with a family of cats. A next door neighbor described Patricia as a very sweet person who loved to talk about her time in Hollywood and the celebrities she got to meet.
We’ll never know why she abruptly left the business, but the mystery of her life isn’t unusual in this world:
Donna Desmond also starred in a number of early 70’s sexploitation films, then she vanished as well..you can click here to see more of her provocative career:
I also shared the story of this sex kitten:
Lenka Novak appeared in a number of great cult films who also disappeared…you can click here to see more of her wild career:

I never had a babysitter like that when I was young! Another sad end to a starlet’s life. Such a shame.
Best wishes, Pete.

She left acting in 1971. She married in Polk, OR, in 1972, then moved to Redondo Beach but the marriage flamed out quickly. In 1978, she moved into a mobile home in Lakeport, CA and became a hospice worker. A very heavy smoker, she had been suffering from cancer for five years at the time of her death in 1993 in a fire in her mobile home, where she had lived alone with five cats, who also died in the fire. A state fire inspector determined that a lit cigarette in the bedroom was the source of the fire.
