Celebrating “New Age” Adult Film Legend Kay Parker!
I love when Facebook friends suggest stories for my “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” – and that was the case here…leading me to discover an “adult Film Star” with a fascinating life!
Kay Taylor Park was born in 1944, and had a wild career in adult films before becoming a “Metaphysical Counselor!”
Born in England, Kay moved to the United States at the age of 21, and studied acting in San Francisco.
Parker was reportedly introduced to the adult film industry during the late 1970s by Adult Actor John Leslie, and made her first film at the unusually late age of 34 in the 1978 film “Sex World.”
You’ll remember that the first “Black Superstar Of Adult Films”, Desiree West starred in this film:
You should check out all of her greatest roles by clicking on my story here:
Parker was usually paired with younger co-stars – cast in mature women roles, such as Mothers, Stepmothers and Aunts…
She appeared in a ton of films at the end of the decade – among her roles was this “adult” take on the “Snow White” legend:
Parker was a very busy Actress in adult films, with dozens of credits in the next few years…
She appeared in the adult take on the world’s most famous vampire with “Dracula Sucks” in 1978.
She is perhaps best known for her role in the critically acclaimed and very controversial 1980 film “Taboo.”
As you can see from the poster, this was a very controversial movie for its time, and there were a number of different posters selling its shocking storyline:
Check out this plot: A female friend of a sexually frustrated mother tries broadening her horizons with a sex orgy. Though avoiding it, the new feelings inside her cause her to force herself on her sleeping son!
Even though the film was controversial, it was also critically acclaimed and hugely popular.
In 1983, the film won an award from the VSDA, a mainstream Video group – winning in the category of “Best Adult Tape” – the first ever for an X-rated film!
One website called Parker’s role revelatory saying she portrayed “Barbara with a gentle, sensuous mist of sophisticated feminine allure that tantalizes with tangible passion stirring deep within that magnificent bosom”.
She also appeared in several of the sequels to the film.
She went on to make several more hugely popular adult films:
“Champagne For Breakfast” 1980
Do you see who else appears in this film?
Kandi Barbour also had a great adult film career – but she had a tragic death as well…you can see her story clicking here:
Parker was working with some of the biggest names in adult film at the time, in a wide range of films, like “Downstairs Upstairs” from 1980 with Seka:
Seka was, of course, the “Platinum Princess of Porn” and you can see her entire story here:
Kay won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1983 film “Sweet Young Foxes.” Ultimately she was inducted in the Adult Film Hall Of Fame as well…
Ultimately, Parker made more than 60 films before retiring in the mid-80’s…
Somewhat surprisingly, Kay appeared in small parts in several mainstream films and TV shows as well, most notably the comedy “The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas!”
In 2001, she wrote her autobiography titled Taboo: Sacred, Don’t Touch: An Autobiographical Journey Spanning Six Thousand Years in which she wrote about her early childhood, her career in the adult industry, and her experiences with the metaphysical.
She has a Youtube channel and works as as Counselor as well in mystic enlightenment.
Parker was also the subject of the documentary called “A Taboo Identity“, which chronicles her transition from Adult Film Star to her career as a Metaphysical Counselor.
Bravo to Parker for such a fascinating, empowered career!
She is one of the “survivors” of the adult film industry…many haven’t made it through…here is one of my favorited “empowered” Adult performers:
Christy Canyon was fun, feisty, upbeat and empowered – and she is still a great Ambassador to the industry…see her whole story here:
