Celebrating Actress Mimi Rogers! From “The Rapture” To Playboy And More! My “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” Has Her Most Provocative Roles!

Celebrating The Career Of Mimi Rogers!

One of the best things about my “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” is when I get recommendations for Cult Movie Queens to highlight – and that’s the case here – a suggestion to dive into the terrific, candid career of Mimi Rogers!

This empowered, risk-taking Actress has a great career – let’s take a look at some of her most provocative roles!

Mimi Rogers was born Miriam Spickler in 1955 in Coral Gables, Florida.

She headed to Hollywood in the early 80’s and was soon appearing in some very big films:

This 1987 crime thriller was directed by Ridley Scott, and while it wasn’t a huge success, it did introduce Rogers to mainstream film audiences.

It was her short marriage to Tom Cruise from 1987 to early 1990 that put her fully in the spotlight…she had just divorced her first husband, who was a member of the Church of Scientology…which of course Cruise is as well.

Soon after her divorce, Rogers starred in “The Rapture” – a very daring, provocative role for Rogers.

Rogers plays a telephone operator who lives an empty, amoral life- before she finds God and then loses him again.

Here’s the trailer:

Rogers has said that “The Rapture” is the movie she’s most proud of, because she was able to show the fullest extent of her acting capabilities.

The film also includes an orgy scene that she is nude in – and of course, the shower scene!

It was this provocative Playboy magazine cover and article in 1993 that got her in some hot water…she gave a now infamous interview about ex-husband Cruise, saying he was contemplating becoming a monk.

Rogers was quoted in the article saying this about Cruise:

“At least for that period of time, it looked as though marriage wouldn’t fit into his overall spiritual need. And he thought he had to be celibate to maintain the purity of his instrument. … My instrument needed tuning.”

By the way, these gorgeous photos were taken my Michel Comte….stunning.

Rogers soon retracted the comments and said she had been misinterpreted. There were stories at the time that her comments may have violated a divorce agreement between the two.

Here’s what she had to say about the Playboy photos:

“I’m a great fan of nude art. I’m also proud of my body. I like being naked. I was given complete control of the shoot. That was essential. I knew I wanted to have children so I realized I’d better get my nude pictures out there before I had a baby and my body changed. This is my permanent record of the way things were once with my body. The reaction I got from my Playboy pictures was very positive and it made me feel good, so that translates into a very positive experience.”

Bravo to her for that!

“Full Body Massage” Indeed!

One of Mimi’s most provocative films was this 1995 erotic made-for-cable film directed by Nicolas Roeg .

The film is a series of conversations about relationships and philosophy as she is being rubbed down by Masseur Bryan Brown – perhaps best known for starring with her ex-husband Tom in “Cocktail!”

One of her most powerful roles came in 2004:

It’s the story of an extremely dysfunctional marriage between a couple surviving the wreckage of a tragedy.

Rogers starred alongside Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger, and she bared all again:

Here’s some great trivia from IMDB:

When a reporter on the red carpet asked Mimi’s 17-year-old daughter Lucy to name her favorite of her mom’s films, Lucy said it was “The Door In The Floor.” Mimi, standing next to her, seemed shocked at her answer!

Since then, Rogers has appeared in more than 100 films and TV shows: everything from he first “Austin Powers” comedy to most recently, a recurring role on the TV show “Bosch.”

She’s an empowered, provocative Actress who crosses all genres…bravo to her and her career!

Rogers reminds me of several other Actresses who have taken on daring roles that many would be afraid to do:

Oscar-winning Actress Helen Mirren never shied away from provocative roles in films like “Savage Messiah” and “The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover” – you can see all of her most daring roles by clicking on my story here:

Of course, her most controversial role of all was in the X-rated “Caligula!”

And remember – it was “XXX” rated as well! Click here to see the in-depth story of one of the most shocking films to ever star A-List Talent!
