This Actress Had Walt Disney Blushing!
Cult cinema is full of great Actresses who blazed a trailer cross drive-in movie screens and left eerie mark on us forever….my “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” has the story of one such Cult Movie Queen, who pissed off Walt Disney in the process!
Actress Dayle Haddon was born in Montreal Canada in 1949.
Trained as a dancer, she became a member of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens at 13 and was named “Miss Montreal” when she was 18.
After that recognition, Dayle headed to Hollywood and quickly found fame – and controversy followed soon after!
In 1973, she landed a role in the film “The World’s Greatest Athlete” for
Walt Disney, who saw her as the kind of fresh young face who could grow into ingenue roles for the studio, but Dayle had other ideas. To Disney’s shock, she promptly did a nude pictorial in Playboy!
As you can imagine, that put an end to the “Disney” part of her career, but I love that the magazine had no problem using that to their advantage – look at their headline!
With a Playboy pictorial under her belt, she took off for Europe and landed a string of steamy roles, including this one, that used her Playboy notoriety to its advantage!
You see how the ad took full advantage of her Playboy notoriety – in a film that was classic drive-in movie fare for the time!
Dayle ended up making a number of steamy films in Europe. Among her more notorious films was this wild one from 1976:
What a title!
A notorious secret society known as Spermula plans to return from the future and conquer Earth by neutering the male population.
That same year she appeared in this Italian sex comedy:
“Sex With A Smile!”
This was a collection of five short comic sketches, all unrelated to each other, except that they were all expressions of Italian sexual humor. And look who was also in it! Barbara Bouchet’s husband is out of town on business, and a stranger offers her twenty million lire in return for sex!
Bouchet also had a wild wild career and you can see all of it by clicking on my story here:
In 1977, she starred in this erotic drama:
Based on a true story. Madame Claude, a well connected Parisienne with dark past, runs a network of high-class call girls. She sends her girls to any place in the world to satisfy sexual desires of wealthy and powerful men.
Haddon appeared in several Hollywood films as well, such as “North Dallas Forty” in 1979 and “Bullets Over Broadway” in 1994. Sadly, the next period of her life was tragic.
Dayle’s husband died suddenly in 1991, leaving her with little money and a fifteen-year-old daughter to raise alone.
According to her bio, doors slammed in her face because of her age in her previous professions of modeling, dancing, and acting. Dayle still had a daughter to support, so she hit the library to research the statistics about women of her generation, the baby boomers, and identified their growing importance in the health and beauty market. She knocked on the doors of the major cosmetics companies to tell them they were missing an opportunity.
She weathered many rejections, but got her breakthrough when Clairol selected her as a spokesperson. She was then chosen to be the face of a new anti-aging line for ‘Estee Lauder’. On the day that the Lauder contract expired, L’Oreal signed her.
She now has her own company, Dayle Haddon Concepts Inc, and travels the world as a spokesperson for L’Oreal to inspire and offer practical solutions in the areas of spirit, wisdom, beauty, and wellness for women.
Bravo to Dayle Haddon for fighting through life’s obstacles and succeeding…and check out that photo of her above. This photo of her reminded me of another great Actress:
Yes, she looks overmuch like Sylvia Kristel, who also posed for Playboy and had a wild wild film career, which you can see here:
There have been number of great Actresses who were much more famous in Europe than the US:
Silvia Dionisio had a great cult career, and you can see all of her most provocative roles by clicking on my story here:
Here’s another great cult Actress you may not know:
Laura Antonelli had a string of provocative films, and you can see them all there.
