Meet Isabel Sarli! This “Argentinian Marilyn Monroe” Was Also Known As “The Argentina Firecracker” And “The Cleanest Star Of Cinema!”

My friend Angel Orona shared a photo on his terrific Facebook page “In The Sleaze”, and that led me to find out more about Isabel Sarli, the “Argentinian Marilyn Monroe!”

My “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” has the story of a Cult Movie Queen you may not have heard of – but what a career!

Isabel Hilda Gorrindo Sarli was born in Argentina in 1929.

She did her first nude scene in a film in 1956 and it was a scandal in Argentina…earning her two classic nicknames:

Meet “The Cleanest Star Of Cinema!”

Yes, that was one of her nicknames – and there’s a hilarious reason why!

She was known as “the cleanest star of cinema” because she always had nude swimming scenes – whether at beaches, rivers, rivulets or waterfalls…and of course, she loved swimming nude in a pool as well!

Isabel had 35 screen credits, mostly in her home country, but a few of the films made it to America.

Sarli was Argentina’s version of Marilyn Monroe – a legendary sex kitten who never teased, always delivered!

Here are a few of her best films:

As you can see, this one played the US with a wildly provocative poster – and the Argentinian poster was even more explicit:

“Fuego” was released in 1969 – when showing full nudity in film was still risky due to censorship laws in various parts of the country.

“Fiebre” in 1971 continued the trend of promoting a film based on Isabel’s naked body – or the promise of it:

“Intimacies Of A Prostitute” followed in 1972 – and now, full nude shots began to appear in the films – as I said, she always delivered the goods:

Here’s the poster for her 1974 erotic drama:

This made it to the US as “Ardent Summer” and “Barbara” as well. The poster was much less suggestive as you can see!

Isabel was a hugely popular Actress and Model in her home country – and for the rest of the decade, she made provocative films and did equally provocative photo shoots.

And of course, she still enjoyed the water:

Here are some more of the wild posters for her films:

While I had never heard of her, she was a big star throughout the 70’s in South America and Europe.

She retired from the entertainment industry in 1981.

Sadly, she died in 2019 of a heart attack just two weeks before her 90th birthday – what a life!

I’ve profiled a few Cult Movie Queens who were much more popular around the world than in the US:

Silvia Aguilar was a fearless Actress, but most of her work never reached the US – until now! Click here to see some of her best films, many being remastered!

And how about this “caged virgin?”

Marie-Pierre Castel had a wild career in France, and some of those films are available now!

Yes, she appeared in a Jean Rollin film, as did Francoise Blanchard, who was mesmerizing in his movies, – you can see more of her work here:
