Celebrating The Life Of Victoria Lynn Johnson…
I have come across many women who made a splash in men’s magazines,,, followed by a brief foray into acting, before heading off in a new, empowered direction.
My “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” pays homage to an empowered woman who battled cancer…
Victoria was born in Atlanta Georgia in 1952.
She started modeling at age sixteen in Atlanta. Her first job was as a Bikini Model standing in a store window!
At the age of 24, Victoria was chosen Penthouse Pet of the Month for August, 1976.
The following year, she was named 1977 Penthouse Pet of the Year.
As with many other Models at the time, this led to her getting the acting bug…
Among her acting credits:
“Grizzly”
She made her acting debut in this 1976 action thriller about a killer bear!
Next up, she worked with a legend!
“Starship Invasions”
This 1977 sci-fi thriller starred Christopher Lee…one of the greatest of all time! Check out the trailer:
This is the kind of “Saturday matinee” gem that brings back memories of a good time in a movie theater!
She also appeared on the TV shows “Lou Grant” and “Dukes Of Hazzard” – and we all know who starred in that one:
Catherine Back loved her “Daisy Dukes”, but here’s the film where she bared it all!
Perhaps Victoria’s biggest “exposure” was as a “body double!”
In 1980, she bared all as Angie Dickinson’s very nude “body double” in Brian DePalma’s classic thriller “Dressed To Kill!”
That’s Angie nude in the shower scene – as a wide shot…but closer shots were Victoria!
That wrapped up Johnson’s acting career, but she ended up writing her memoir – about life as a Penthouse Model – and her battle with cancer:
In July 1998, Victoria was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer and given less than two years to live. She bravely fought the disease for twenty years….but sadly, she died in 2019.
Still, she had an empowered, inspiring life…
Joanne Latham was another inspiring Penthouse Pet – she graced the 10th anniversary cover…boy did she!

Victoria Silvstedt had a career similar to Joanne’s as well – and you can see all of the highlights here:

She was born the same year as me, but I never noticed her or saw her films. Sad to hear she lost her life in 2019.
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks for the tribute to the late Victoria Lynn Johnson. She was one of Bob Guccione’s favorites and was so classically beautiful. Her reign as a Pet Of The Year was at a time when Penthouse was climbed to the top and would stay there during the mid to late 70’s and 1980’s; outselling Playboy. It became an actual respected magazine with that one of a kind soft focus lens photography and the set styling so artistically rich and interesting. I also have her autobiography, which is such a great read. Victoria was did an episode of The Young And The Restless soap opera and had a one line, brief appearance in Smokey and The Bandit plus she was seen in the live, televised pageant from Las Vegas for the selection of the 1979 Pet Of The Year alongside the legendary actor Tony Curtis, as well as the legendary singer, Frankie Valli! She also was featured with Bob Guccione in a segment for the 1981 NBC TV special, Women Who Rate A 10. Victoria also was a commercial print model before her Penthouse Pet fame, doing ads for travel brochures, hair vitamins and even Kodak. She also did a 1975 Shake and Bake commercial and a 1980 Jordache jeans commercial. (You can view both on YouTube.
