Talk About A Head Of Hair!
Need a moment?
Of course you do! There’s a head of hair that just goes on and on and on!
Meet Playboy’s “hairiest” Playmate!
More than 4 feet of it to be exact! Debra Jo Fondren’s golden locks made her a star, and I’m going to tell you how!
My “2021 Sex Kitten Countdown” has the story of an empowered Playmate who achieved success in the magazine and on screen as well – all with a head full of hair, hair and more hair!
Debra Jo Fondren was born on February 5, 1955 in Los Angeles, California.
Fame came calling when Fondren was working as a waitress in Beaumont, Texas. “Playboy” photographer Robert Scott Hooper saw her while she was having lunch at the Desert Inn Hotel on her first trip to Las Vegas!
It was her cascading mane of golden blonde hair that became her signature – because her hair went down past her knees!
Debra was named Playmate of the Month in September, 1977 and was chosen Playmate of the Year in 1978.
She was the “hairiest” Playmate ever, and she became a fan favorite for the next decade!
Following her Playmate award, Debra embarked on an acting career:
She appeared on TV shows like “Mork & Mindy,” “Fantasy Island,” and “Knots Landing.”
She also appeared on a number of stage shows as well, including the one you’d expect:
She kept her long hair for much of her career, which included a small part in the failed comedy “Vasectomy: A Delicate Matter” and one leading role in this 80’s action thriller:
A sultry assassin is the target of two separate operatives in this action adventure shot on location in the Bahamas, Athens, Rome and Hong Kong.
Check out the trailer:
Fondren was also building credits behind-the-scenes as well: she was the casting director and second assistant director on the low-budget drama “The Last Road.”
According to her IMDB biography, Fondren became a born-again Christian in the early 80s, but that didn’t stop her from continuing to model and appear in numerous “Playboy” videos throughout the mid 90s; she sports shoulder length red hair in some of those videos.
Debra continued to meet fans and embrace her celebrity status, by appearing at several Glamourcon conventions in the late 90s and early 2000s.
In 2004, Fondren stopped participating in “Playboy” promotions because, as her online biography states, she felt they put “too much emphasis on sex.”
Debra now lives in Beaumont, Texas. Bravo to her for her flowing career!
