“I love being a feminine woman, I love to cook for my man, I love to dress up for him, I’m the type of girl who likes to please her man.”
Well, who can argue with that! That said, Cult Actress / Award-Winnning Producer Devin DeVasquex is anything but submissive – she’s an empowered woman worth celebrating!
I always like getting requests for some of the great Cult Movie Queens of the past – that’s what led me to Devin’s terrific life and career – a great suggestion and here’s why!
She was born Devin Renee DeVasquez on June 25, 1963 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She grew up there – and that’s how she got discovered!
You all remember those “girls of the south” type pictorials, right? Well, that was a Devin!
She appeared in a Playboy “girls of college” pictorial in October 1981 when she was going to Louisiana State University – just the first of her Playboy appearances!
Here’s a fascinating aspect of her career – DeVasquez won $100,000 on the television talent show, Star Search in 1986 and this win led to her being one of the first Hispanic Playmates featured on the cover of the November 1986 Playboy.
She was chosen as Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in June 1985.
She got her first film role in 1987, when she played the virgin in “House 2”, and had a supporting role that same year in the comedy “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
She worked with legendary Cult Director Brian Yuzna in this gem:
What a wild film!
Check out the trailer:
An ordinary teenage boy discovers his family is part of a gruesome orgy cult for the social elite.
Also in 1989, DeVasquez guest starred in “Her Cups Runneth Over”, a third season episode of the FOX series, Married…With Children.
She appeared in the film “A Low Down Dirty Shame” – then teamed up with cult cinema’s most unique Action Director!
Andy Sidaris knew how to make an action film – fill it with tons of beautiful, naked women who loved to kick ass!
Here’s the trailer:
Check out the cast – six Playmates!
You have to give Andy Sidaris credit – he had a formula that delivered!
Sure, Devin held a gun, but that yellow tower wasn’t in the film much:
A number of Andy’s regulars were also in the film – including this eye-popping Cult Movie Queen:
Dona Speir was a Sidaris regular – click here to see all of her greatest hits:
Roberta Vasquez had a great run of Sidaris films was well – see her best work here:
One of her last lead roles was in “The Passion Network”:
DeVasquez authored the book “The Naked Truth About A Pinup Model, True Age, Timeless Beauty, My Husband’s A Dog, My Wife’s A Bitch” – along with “The Day It Snowed In April.”
Ultimately, she’s written number of books on a wide range of topics!
DeVasquez garnered three Emmys as a producer on the Amazon Prime series, “The Bay.”
Devin is quite an empowered Women: she helped those affected by Hurricane Katrina by creating Devin’s Kickass Cajun Seasoning through her business, DevRonn Enterprises.
Bravo to Devin! She was much more than an Actress in An Andy Sidaris film – but I loved all who were!
