Time To Head Back To The 80’s!
Yes, the hair gives it away: Adult Movie Queen Barbara Dare had the 80’s look down cold – and yesterday was her birthday, so let’s celebrate her!
It was a look that was everywhere at the time, and she wore it well to be sure!
My “2022 Sex Kitten Countdown” has a look at the energetic career of one of the decade’s most popular performers!
Barbara Dare was born Stacy Mitnick on February 23, 1963 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Dare attended Wayne Hills High School in New Jersey and then got a degree in Buying & Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
According to an online bio, Barbara first got involved with the adult film industry in the mid-1980’s because of “her wild and uninhibited anything-goes lifestyle at the legendary New York City swinger’s club Plato’s Retreat (she was named Ms. Plato’s in 1985).”
She originally performed as Kim Wilde in “The Oddest Couple” and “Sex Boat” in 1984 before becoming a star as Barbara Dare!
“10-1/2 Weeks” was the beginning of a run of films that topped 90 screen credits!
“Ride A Pink Lady” was a very un-subtle title, and what about this takeoff on Woody Allen’s “Hannah And Her Sisters”?
She was “Barbara The Barbarian”, a hardcore take on “Conan The Barbarian”!
Here are some more of her films:
Barbara won the AVN (Adult VIdeo News) Best New Starlet Award in 1987.
Dare was inducted into both the AVN Hall of Fame and the XRCO (X-Rated Critics Organization) Hall of Fame.
Among the men’s magazines Barbara was featured in and/or graced the covers of are “Fox,” “Swank,” “Hustler,” “High Society,” and “Club International”.
Barbara showed up in Director Fred Olen Ray’s horror comedy “Evil Toons” in 1992.
This is a cult gem that deserves more attention – see the trailer and the 3 beautiful stars by clicking on my story here:
As for Barbara, she wrapped out of the adult film industry in the early 90’s…so what happened to her?
Well, the terrific website “The Rialto Report” has her story – from these incredible, candid photos chosen by Barbara herself to a new interview with the Actress!

I appreciate how “The Rialto Report” offers terrific stories and insight about the adult film world…far too many of the stars of that era have faded away or worse:
Shauna Grant was a huge star in the 80’s, but met a tragic end. You can read her story here:
