“Lucky Penny” Irving! Her Wild “Whipcord” Role And 70’s Acting/Modeling Career!

Celebrating A Cult Actress With A British Flair!

My “2022 Sex Kitten Countdown” is looking back at some of the great Cult Movie queens of a bygone era, and Penny Irving fits that to a tee!

She was born Marie Tricki in Scotland in 1943. As with many beautiful young women at the time, London was calling her!

Penny got her start acting on “The Benny Hill Show” in 1972, but was becoming well known in England for another, more revealing reason!

Penny was one of the famous “Page 3” girls in the London newspaper in the 70’s.

Her modeling career took off. She also had a run in men’s magazines like Mayfair:

She always played younger women, and pushed back when they tried to get too “fresh” with her character in the British TV series she was on called “Are You Being Served?”

As IMDB notes, she said:

“As the series progressed, they tried to get a bit more risqué. In one script it had me sat in a bikini on Mr Grace’s knee. I didn’t want that and I called David Croft and told him I was drawing the line. He was livid! I was in my 30’s by then and just didn’t want to do it. He was quite horrible about it. So, I thought about it … and still didn’t do it!”

That said, she had no problem baring all for these cult films:

“Big Zapper” in 1973 was the story of a female private eye who was just as dirty as the men in her business!

The following year, Penny got a “introducing” credit in this horror film:

“House Of Whipcord”

This 1974 shocker has a near-perfect 70’s cult poster to go with it:

This is one of the grittier sex thrillers of that time.

Here is the trailer:

Here’s the plot: Elderly prison matrons take sadistic pleasure in torturing the female convicts who stray from the strict moral standards.

As one review notes, it’s a British take on the “women in prison” film!

As usual for the “women in prison” genre, there were plenty of showers in the film!

Of course, Director Pete Walker also made this gritty gem:

Judy Matheson and Luan Peters starred in this one, which opens with a wild nude encounter:

You can see much more about this film and star Luan Peters by clicking on my story here:

Penny continued to show up in a wide variety of British films. She was one of the many Actresses who showed up in the 1974 sex farce:

She played a Playboy Bunny in “Old Dracula” and had an uncredited role in the 1976 film “The Bawdy Adventures Of Tom Jones” – and also showed up in more magazines as well:

She acted in a variety of TV shows and films before retiring from the business in 1981.

You know who also starred in “House Of Whipcord?”

Ann Michelle was also “The Virgin Witch” and much more – see her wild cult film career by clicking here:

And what about this provocative Actress from that era:

Suzanne Lund found herself in the “Room Of Chains” – click here to see more of this lurid shocker!

  1. “House Of Whipcord” sounds entirely NOT up alley; Sadly, I did see “Old Dracula” on TV. Complete with a skin-crawlingly embarrassing scene where Drac’s bride gets some blood from a black woman and turns black… I hope David Niven and Teresa Graves we’re paid extremely well.

  2. Penny was so well known over here for many years. I was surprised when she retired from the business.
    Best wishes, Pete.
