“Hello, Dolly!”
OK, I had to do that, but it’s exactly what I would say if I met Dolly Reed, a Playboy Playmate turned Actress!
There are so many women who appear in Playboy and then briefly work in films before leaving the business – for Dolly, her single role was in one of cult cinema’s most notorious entries!
My “2022 Sex Kitten Countdown” has her brief career and celebrity marriage!
Dolly Read was born on September 13, 1944 in Bristol,England.
Dolly came to the US and was chosen as the Playboy Playmate of the Month in May 1966.
As with many who achieved fame through Playboy, Dolly got involved in entertainment, appearing in TV shows and films as well.
She only had ten acting credits, but one is a cult classic!
This Russ Meyer 1970 film is loved by many, and a real stunning release from a mainstream movie studio!
Edy Williams also appeared in the film, and what a stunning beauty she was!

Dolly got married to Comedian / TV Host Dick Martin, one half of “Roman & Martin’s Laugh-In” – a huge TV hit in the late 60’s…
They divorced but remarried again.
She never pursued acting beyond this point, a minor guest starring TV role notwithstanding…she was content to live life out of the spotlight, but she was certainly proud of her career:
I love this picture, as it’s terrific to see that she is proud of her career and rightly so!
There were a number of great Playmates who didn’t have long careers, like Kimberly McArthur:

Many did go on to great careers in film and TV. Some even married Director Russ Meyer:
Eve Meyer was much more than a beautiful Actress and ex-wife: she had a great career in the business as well.
