Celebrating A “Playboy Virgin!”
As I look for interesting stories to share in my “2022 Sex Kitten Countdown” series, I come across some unique stories that are too good NOT to share – like the story of the controversial “Virgin Playmate!”
The Story Of Donna Edmondson!
She was born on February 1, 1966 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Donna had a normal childhood but by the time she was in high school, her future seemed assured.
You see, while Donna played first base on her high school softball team, her high school yearbook named her:
“Most Likely To Become A Bunny!”
Donna attended the University of North Carolina and received a real estate license. While there, Edmondson sent some photos of herself to “Playboy” magazine.
The rest is history!
She was chosen as Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in November 1986 when she was just 20 years old – and the following year she was named the Playmate of the Year!
Donna Was A “Virgin” Playmate!
According to her biography, Donna was a Southern Baptist AND A VIRGIN at the time of Playboy success, and that it was her FATHER who encouraged her to apply to be a Playmate!
Whether true or not, she was not only popular, but the subject of controversy when it was revealed in her “Playboy” profile that she was still a virgin when she posed nude for her pictorial!
Donna appeared on “The Late Show With Joan Rivers” to discuss the issue and here’s a clip:
Larry King’s talk show also addressed it, with one caller accusing her of not being religious because she displayed her body nude!
I admire her for doing a full publicity tour at a time when this was certain not only to get headlines but controversy as well…
Donna persevered, however – she went on a hugely successful publicity tour – appearing in 54 cities in 52 days!
Bravo to Donna for staying true to herself!
Edmondson didn’t go into entertainment beyond appearing as herself in a half dozen Playboy video projects.
Donna eventually took a job as a tax accountant and got married, has kids and lives in Greensboro.
Prior to the pandemic, she appeared at various conventions as well…bravo to her on an empowered career!

Another great read- I remember seeing her issue when I was at least 12 – oh the memories . There is just something about the natural physiques women had in the 70s and 80s.

Donna was a legendary busty beauty that Playboy had the good sense to make PMOY. She was unfortunately under-rated and under-appreciated too.
