“Shocktober 2022” heads to the country to make a porno – and horrific mayhem ensues!
Director Ti West’s Terrific Shocker “X”!
This was an unexpected pleasure to be sure!
Director Ti West, known for his low budget gems “The House Of The Devil” and “The Innkeepers”, this time shows his love for 70’s drive-in movies and adult films as well!
Here’s the plot of “X” as described in IMDB.com:
In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

What a cast! Mia Goth, Brittany Snow, Jenna Ortega and Kid Cudi star, but the entire cast is terrific!
This is a love letter to 70’s cinema, and all of the participants step up!
Actress Brittany Snow, best known for her role in the “Pitch Perfect” films, plays an empowered porn star, and she does nude scenes in the film.
As she said in an interview with the “Insider” website:
“I think there was a lot of confidence in terms of our characters, and a part of the nudity came from that confidence that our characters exuded,” Snow explained. “It almost felt necessary, because not only were we filming a porn, but our characters would’ve been so comfortable with that.”
She also praised director West for creating a safe space to film these scenes.
Snow told Insider that the film “was an exercise in me feeling confident about my body.”
“I was pretty proud of myself because you spend a lot of time in your twenties just hating yourself,” the Actress said. “And then at a certain point you get this and you’re like, ‘Screw it, let’s do it.'”
She is outstanding in the film, as is her co-star Mia Goth!
Goth stars as Pearl, a newcomer to the business who finds herself in the midst of the horrific mayhem – well, after she takes the time to go for a skinny dip and have a cigarette:
You might know the Actress for her provocative role in Lars Von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac” films…
As it turns out, Director West had more plans for Pearl…
During preproduction for “X”, the Director had a mandatory two week quarantine due to covid regulations, and he used that time well – he wrote another script!
Once “X” finished filming in New Zealand, Director West asked Goth if she would stay and use the existing sets to shoot a prequel about her character – and that film was just released as well!
The movie being filmed in “X” is called “The Farmer’s Daughter”…and I have shared many stories of this classic form of “hicksploitation”:
