Jessa Flux Has Some “Shocktober 2022” News!
All month long I’ve been highlighting some of the great Cult Horror Queens of cinema, and now I want to take time to shine a spotlight on one of the hardest working Actresses in today’s independent horror scene!

The modern world of horror is a unique mix of studio releases like “Halloween Ends” and new films for the big streaming services – and then there is a huge sub-culture of “low and no” budget horror films that use creativity – and lots of nudity and blood – to make up for a lack of budget!
I am trying to support these voices so that we can continue to have a broader range of horror to enjoy!

Jessa Flux has burst onto the independent movie scene in the last few year and is making a huge impact on social media, low budget film and more!
She grew up in Indiana, and attended the Cornish College Of The Arts, focused on dance. Much more on her life coming up, but let’s start with a dive into her “shocktober” film work.
Jessa has more than twenty film credits already…one of which I supported in pre-production. What I find interesting is that these projects harken back to the grindhouse era, a time with a more provocative style.

I asked Jessa about her comfort level doing nudity in her movies, and she told me this:
“Personally, I can say toplessness in movies just does not bother me. I paid a lot of money for this body. I’m completely fake & I love it. I know that regardless if I’m showing my prize possession (my body) or not, I know that I give 150 percent to every role I’ve gotten.”

Jessa plays empowered women in her films, and she has no issue with provocative scenes. As she told me:
“I do character analysis, work with an acting coach & do everything I can to make the character the writer created come alive in my own way but also in a way that pleases the director. So no matter what, nudity does not devalue my craft. I charge the same amount for playing a role whether I show off skin or not, because it doesn’t effect the way I see it. And my opinion of myself & my creative effort is all that will ever matter to me.”
Here are some of the films she has appeared in already:

“Cannibal Hookers!”
Here’s the plot: a woman escapes a religious cult and ends up turning tricks in Hollywood. Naturally, she meets a group of notorious cannibal hookers and joins their man-eating ranks.

The film is directed by Donald Farmer and Caroline Kopko. It evokes the style and tone of 70’s grindhouse with all of the requisite elements that made that era so great!
Here is the trailer:
Flux has made several films with Farmer, who is carving out a nice niche of low budget shockers like this.

Here are a few more of Jessa’s films:

Here’s the plot: Debbie is the host of a paranormal ghost hunter show. But can she come to the rescue when four friends use a Ouija board to summon a 300 year old witch?
Here is that trailer:
Jessa is specializing in quirky independent horror like these:

Jessa continues to score roles in films, with several in various stages of production right now!

I love her fearlessness – and her relentless promotion of all of the projects she is working on! She is eager to do publicity – in fact, the latest issue of the terrific Strange World magazine is out – and Jessa is prominently featured inside!
Jessa has an in-depth interview in the new issue of Strange World Magazine, filled with an in-depth look at her life.
She shares her story of growing up, how she got into exotic dancing, and most importably, her journey into the world of independent film, especially the horror genre!
She has a great photo on the back cover of the magazine as well:
“Strange World” is a love letter to cult cinema and the people in front of and behind the camera who keep the grindhouse spirit alive!
I was so happy to discover this magazine and bought it – a great read with lots of stories about cult cinema and the artists behind them. You can order a copy here!

I became aware of Jessa when I got involved in the “gofundme” campaign for this new film:
As the “Murdercise” poster shows, this new horror film is inspired by the VHS workout tape craze of the 80’s!

Jessa co-stars in “Murdercise”, which led me to profile her career and profile the others in this film as well!

One of the happy surprises is that Adult Icon Ginger Lynn will be in the film!
Ginger was in the Director’s previous film “Slashorette Party” and was terrific – here’s a look at her incredible career:
Jessa also works the convention circuit and recently did signings with Troma.
Some of you may know I have a history with the world’s longest running independent film studio – which is indeed Troma!

That’s me in the middle, wedged between Sgt. Kabukiman and Cult Movie Queen Tiffany Shepis! This was at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival!
I also worked with a younger James Gunn, who showed us his wild creativity back then!

That’s Tiffany on the left and James on the right – you can see some of our wild antics at the Cannes Film Festival by clicking on my story here:
